The SQR472F is a self-developed 1.1L inline four-cylinder naturally aspirated gasoline engine by Chery, the core mass-production model of the 472 series. It was officially fitted to vehicles starting in 2006, matching micro and compact cars including QQ3 1.1L, QQ6 and Flagcloud 1. It was designed to fix the drawbacks of the 0.8L three-cylinder SQR372F, namely severe vibration and insufficient power, positioning itself as a balanced powertrain for daily commuting and low-cost commercial use. It features a cast iron cylinder block paired with an aluminum alloy cylinder head, DOHC dual overhead camshaft with 16 valves, and MPI multi-point port injection without VVT variable valve timing. Boasting a compact layout, its four-cylinder design delivers far less inherent vibration than three-cylinder engines. It runs on 92# gasoline and supports LPG gas conversion. Later versions comply with China National IV emission standards, and it was gradually phased out around 2015 alongside the discontinuation of microcars. The suffix "F" stands for an optimized mature mass-production version with upgraded intake, electronic control and cooling systems.
